Cut-off Times
There are cut-off times for both the 50km course and the 100km course at the locations below. These are fairly generous and in good conditions we would not expect that these cut-offs would need to be applied. If you reach a certain point after the cut-off time you will be directed on a shortened course or asked to stop at that location and will be transported directly to the finish.
100km Course
Feed Station 1 (34km) - 11am
Feed Station 2 (54km) - 1:35pm
Feed Station 3 (74km) - 3:35pm

50km course

Finish for 50km/100km

Competitor Briefing
The Competitor Briefing document is a very important document which all competitors must read. It contains everything you need to know for the event. Importantly, at the end of the briefing document is the Indemnity Form which you need to print out, sign and bring with you to registration.
For the 2011 Competitor Briefing <click here>. The 2012 Competitor Briefing will be released closer to the event date.
Copies of the Competitor Briefing will be displayed at registration. You will NOT receive them in your registration bag. If you need your own copy please print it out and bring it with you.

Transportation/Logistics
As you know (well we hope you do!), the Capital Punishment is a point to point race which does mean some organisation and thinking ahead. With this comes the logistics of getting back to your car or home once you've finished. The easiest way to do this is to convince a friend or loved one to drop you at your start and meet you at the finish! Or to team up with some other riders and do a car shuffle. However should this plan not work there are other options.
Car Shuffle – The parking at Stromlo Forest Park (the finish) will open on Friday afternoon between 5pm and 10:30pm and on Saturday morning between 4:30am and 6:30am. Leave your car at the finish and get a lift to the start with a friend or fellow competitor. Then once you’ve conquered your distance, had a rest and gotten some good quality tucker into you, drive your friend back to the start. While AROC will have staff at Stromlo Forest Park overnight and the gates will be locked at 10:30pm, we do not guarantee the security of your vehicle and possessions.
Mini Buses with bike trailers – There will be a limited amount of mini buses towing bike trailers running a shuttle service from the finish back to the 50km start (Campbell Park Offices) and the 100km start (Kowen Forest). This service will run between 10:30am and 6pm. It is strictly a first come, first served basis. Each bus will have capacity to take 16 bikes. We do however encourage riders to be dropped off at the start or arrange their own car transfers.
Coaches – Coaches carrying just competitors (no bikes) will be running a shuttle service to the 50km and 100km start locations. Those competitors using this service can leave their bikes in a compound at the finish which will be manned by event staff.
Ride - If you are staying in Civic and doing the 50km event it is only about 5km to the start. Your hotel will be able to give you directions.
Transport Notes - It is over 25km from Civic to the 100km start via Canberra Airport and Queanbeyan. While Whereis says this will take 24 minutes by car we recommend that you allow 50 minutes. When leaving the 100km start please turn left onto Kings Hwy (towards Bungendore) and use the HQJOC roundabout (which is clearly marked) to do a u-turn towards Canberra. The exit of Millpost Rd is dangerous and as such there will be no right turns allowed onto the Highway.
Drop Bags - There will be a drop bag service from the start (both the 100km start and the 50km start) to the finish. A bag will be provided in your registration pack for this purpose (please note that NO other bags can be used). You will need to write your race number on the bag with a thick black permanent marker.
Parking at Registration -
Underground parking at the Casino
Parking area opposite The National convention Centre on Constitution Ave (at the Civic Pool)
Parking area opposite Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) on Constitution Ave
Free parking on the streets to the east of Glebe Park and Coranderrk St
Riders' Support/Spectators - permitted at Feed Station 2 on the 100km course (at 62km at Mt Majura
Vineyard). <click here> to see a map giving the location. This will be a great point for spectators and there will be a coffee van and wine tasting available.
For a google map showing the location of the 50km and 100km start, the finish and registration at Crowne Plaza <click here>.
Note that start location of the 100km at MillPost Rd is not on most maps. There will be plenty of signs off Kings Highway. If this helps the Longitude and Latitude are:
