angry doc group

4-5 September 2010

Mogo, Eurobodalla Coast NSW

It is all about the course

The course has a great combination of single track (some of the best in Australia!), interesting and narrow fire trails and only a smidgen of bigger hard packed main fire trail. You will not be disappointed. It is the kind of course you will keep thinking about for weeks after the event.

We said it last time and we will say it again - it will be a challenge. The Angry Doctor will 'rip your legs off' but it will be worth every bit of pain. The Irate Intern 50km is the first 50km of the 100km course. The Angry Doctor 100km event will pass through the event hub at Mogo at the 50km mark and then head out on a separate 50km loop containing the famous Maulbrooks single tracks.

The climbing for both the 50km and the 100km is mostly a result of constant undulation rather than super big hills.

Expected fastest times:

50km - 2.15 hours
100km - 4:20 hours

The single track is spread throughout the course so it stays interesting and there are plenty of opportunities to pass. The terrain is varied with the course passing through native forest, granite rock formations and some great views. Due to logging in the area the course does change from time to time but we always ensure the course maintains the sweet character of this race.

Course Stats - 2010

Total Climb:
100km Angry Doctor Course = 2400m (approx)
1st 50km (Irate Intern Course) = 1300m (approx)
2nd 50km = 1100m (approx)

The second 50km has 150m less climbing than last year - that has to be good for the legs!!

Course Breakdown:
1st 50km
Single Track = 17km

2nd 50km
Single Track = 23km

So 40km in total for the full 100km course, which means we've added about 6km extra single track compared to last year. This has to be one of the highest percentage of REAL single track for a 100km event, come and enjoy it!

There is no fluffing it up. When we say single track - it is single track - not narrow fire trail!!

For the Irate Intern 50km you will ride: 17km of single track; 22km of double track and narrow fire trail; 9.7km of wide fire trail; 1.3km bitumen (a little at the start and a little at the finish).
For the Angry Doctor 100km you will ride: 40km of single track; 38km of double track and narrow fire trail; 20.7km of wide fire trail; 1.3km of bitumen.

Feed Stations:
The feed stations are located at 29km, 50km, 67km and 87.5km marks. The Red Bull Energy Shot Station will be at the 20km mark (no food or water though). The Red Bull Wiings Team will be at the finish with fresh cans of Red Bull to give you your wings back after your effort!

The feed stations will be stocked with: water, Gu energy drink, Gu gels, Wallaby bars, fruit buns, fruit and lollies. Supplies will be limited so please also bring your own food and don't rely solely on the feed stations.
