The first weekend in September 2007 was the inaugral Netti MTB Enduro. It was a huge hit with a sell out event. Reports, photos and results below.
There was a bit of bad luck for the front runners with Craig Gordon flying in to the finish loop with only 1km go and Shaun Lewis only 15 seconds behind chasing him down. Being 15 minutes at least ahead of our estimates Craig was directed back out on the course for another 50km! Luckily he realised after a couple of kms and came back to cross the line in 3rd spot. Would Shaun have caught him? It would have been a hell of a sprint for sure!! It being our fault for the mis-direction and with much deliberation we took the results from that point 1 km from the finish so it was Craig Gordan 1st, Shaun Lewis 2nd and Matt Fleming 3rd. We hope the 3 of them come back next year to fight it out again on what can only be described as some of the best tracks in Australia.
Well done to Naomi Hanson from sunny Queensland who took out the women's 100km. The 50km went to Paul Traynor and Kimberley Fleming who won the 50km event. Also Brendan Johnson won the junior category and 2nd overall and Rebecca Henderson 4th overall and 1st junior.
