BLOG:

8:00pm Beth Cardelli has taken out the women's race with a time of 12:16:15 closely followed by last year's winner Julie Quinn in a time of 12:24:52.

5:10pm Andrew Lee and Stu Gibson. Stu Gibson and Andrew Lee...they have smashed the course record by crossing the line at The Fairmont Resort in a time 9:54:19. In an amazing display of camaraderie these incredible athletes crossed the line together to win the 2010 The North Face 100. Congratulations guys!

2:40pm Latest update from CP4, Katoomba Oval at the 67km mark. 4th place was Tim Cochrane in at 2:01, then Oliver Lamb at 2:28, Nabil El Mansouri at 2:28, Clarke McClymont at 2:30, Mike LeRoux at 2:36 and Ewan Horsburgh at 2:43.

2:16pm Just had word from the course that at 1:50pm Andrew Lee was 5 to 10 seconds in front of Stu Gibson at the bottom of The Golden Stairs (69km into the race). These guys are in for a huge battle. Who will break? Only time will tell but there is a 700m climb out of The Jamison Valley coming up for them. Also news from Echo Point that at 2:10pm David Waugh was just coming past the Echo Point lookout.

2:05pm The live results are not working from CP3. The reults are being brought back on a memory stick and should be updated in about 30 minutes. CP4 results are also not being updated live but this should be fixed in about 30 minutes as well. CP3 will continue to be a large delay as it will not go live but CP4 will apparently be live and working in about 30 minutes.

1:54pm 3 runners have been through CP4. Scotsman Stu Gibson and Andrew Lee are together at CP3. They came in, did the compulsory gear check, filled up with water and food and left again at about 1:33pm. These guys are obviously pushing each other David Waugh is in 3rd arriving at CP4 at 1:52pm.

1:19pm So Angela Bateup is leading the female field at CP3.

1:18pm The following runners have also come through CP3. They are Damian Smith at 13:08, Dave Coombs at 13:08, Jonothon O'Laughlin at 13:08, Brandan Haywood at 13:12, Brian Jones at 13:12, Jonathan Worswick at 537, Michael Taylor at 13:14, Oskar Booth at 13:16, Chris Turnbull at 13:16, Mick Donges at 13:17, Angela Bateup at 13:17 and Chris Brown at 13:18.

1:04pm The live link to results doesn't seem to working at CP3. However Stu Gibson is now just in front of Andrew Lee at CP3. There have been the following runners through. Stu Gibson at 12:05, Andrew Lee at 12:06, David Waugh at 12:27, Tim Cochrane at 12:29, Paul O'Connor at 12:47, Nabil El Mansouri at 12:48, Clarke McClymont at 12:50, Oliver Lamb at 12:50, Ewan Horsburgh at 12:55, Mike Le Roux at 13:00. Shane Boladeras at 13:02, Minehiro Yokoyama at 13:03.

10:40am The first women into CP1 were Elizabeth Wraith in 1:59, Angela Bateup 3mins behind, Beth Cardelli 4 mins behind, Julie Quinn 4 mins behind and Janet Ng 5 minutes behind. Julie won last year with Beth second so it looks like these girls will be fighting it out today. Julie is certainly incredible at pacing herself so we would expect to see her move through the field towards mid race.

10:34am 72 runners have been down the ladders so far. They are working perfectly with no hold ups at all so far. The laddders have been strengthened this year to allow 8 people at a time down the 18m cliff.

10:22am 494 runners have been through CP1. The leaderboard hasnow been updated to reflect the situation at about 9:45am. Further updates to the results will follow but it is a matter of brininging a memory stick back and forth between CP1 and HQ at The Fairmont Resort.

10:00am Update at Tarros ladders at the 28km mark. Just 5 runners have so far been down the ladders. Andrew Lee went through the ladders at 9:45am. The next 4 runners through in order were Stu Gibson, David Waugh, Tim Cochrane (last year's 2nd place getter) and Paul O'Connor from Balgowlah. Paul went through at 9:59am.

9:55am 340 runners have now been through CP1. The live link to the CP1 timing mat is not working and results up till 9:45am are being brought back to HQ to upload. The timing guys are working to rectify the situation for CP1.

Andrew Lee was into CP1 at 8:45am...This man is right on time! He has certainly started out on the right pace to break the 10 hour mark. Second into CP1 was Stu Gibson from South Melbourne at 8:50am and Third into CP1 was David Waugh from Armidale at 8:55am. As of 9:05 there have been 22 runners through CP1.

The third edition of The North Face 100 has started. The race start time was 7:13am. It is an absolutely beautiful day here in the stunning Blue Mountains. Last years winner Andrew Lee is already out in front after 3km.

Runners are expected into Checkpoint 1 at 8:45am.
