The inaugural Mountain Hardwear Edge of Reality will be held at the magnificent NSW South Coast amongst spectacular coastline, national parks and state forest. Based from Black Fellows Point between Narooma and Moruya, this is a true expedition event taking you places you would not otherwise go to, giving you an adventure you could not organise yourself. Challenge yourself, your perseverance, your team dynamics and experience a completely new level of achievement.
Held over 50 hours and incorporating kayaking, running, trekking, mountain biking and ropes it will be up to you and your team as to how to pace yourself, when to sleep, when to move. You will need to brush up on your navigation as this will be the real test and separate those top teams from the rest of the field. The course will take you to remote locations, views and through a range of emotions.
If it all sounds exciting but you are not quite up to this level then you can enter the 25 hour option, the Edge of Reason, which covers half the course.
Kayaks are provided and you do not need a support crew. We will provide the logistics for you and transport your gear around the course. So you just need your bikes - it is an easy to organise, cost effective weekend of adventure.
The Mountain Hardwear Edge of Reality is a non-stop event lasting up to 50 hours.
Disciplines include:
All teams will have a chance to complete the full course. The winning team is expected to complete the course in around 25 - 30 hours while the rest of the field has up to 50 hours to enjoy the event.
If you are contemplating the half option your team will complete half the Mountain Hardwear Edge of Reality course and have up to 30 hours in which to do this. The first teams on the Edge of Reason 25 hour course are expected to take around 17 hours.
The headquarters for the 2008 event is Beachcomber Holiday Park at Blackfellow Point, South Coast NSW. This is located between the towns of Narooma and Moruya on the south side of the beautiful Tuross Lake and is surrounded by spectacular headlands such as Potato Point and Congo.
