Paddy Pallin Adventure Race Series Gear and Info Nights
If you've never tried adventure racing before, the best way to get started is to come to the Paddy Pallin ARS Gear & Info Nights! There you will learn what to expect in a typical adventure race, how to prepare for it, get hints and tips from seasoned racers, and what gear (<click here> for a suggested gear list) and skills you will need. Experts will share their experiences and be there to answer any questions you might have. It's also a great opportunity to check out the latest gear and take advantage of one night only specials! Although these nights are especially targeted to novices, anyone can attend. Entry is free, you just need to let us know if you are planning to attend by emailing ppars@arocsport.com.au

Hydration/Nutrition Tips - brought to you by AddVenture Training
Nutrition and hydration are critical components to any sporting event but become increasingly important factors the longer an event continues beyond 90 minutes. The effects of dehydration and low glycogen levels (energy stores) may not be obvious until it is too late and can certainly put an end to even the fittest competitor’s race.
Teams should trial different nutrition and hydration strategies during longer training sessions prior to the actual event; monitoring consumption levels and corresponding performance and recovery. Keep in mind any detrimental effects may still not become obvious during training sessions that are shorter and/or lower in intensity than the actual event.
The volume of fluids and fuel vary greatly depending on a variety of variables including intensity, environmental factors, and individual needs so seek the advice of a qualified sports dietician. Here are a few guidelines and tips to keep in mind:
