Raising money for Clean Up Australia!

Entries open 1 February 2008

Join in the fastest growing sport in Australia and expand your horizons.

Adventure racing is a fun and challenging outdoor experience that promotes team work, strategy, effective communication, leadership and fitness. Challenge your workmates and put out the challenge to other companies. Have an afternoon of fun and get to know your workmates better.

The Adventure - What is it?

The AROC Corporate Adventure Challenger Series is designed as a fun team challenge. It involves teams of 3 that must travel through the course together (not a relay style). You are given a map and instructions and must find your way from checkpoint to checkpoint on foot and by kayak. There will be some surprise challenges to complete and some clues along the way. Will you help out other teams or go it alone? It is a bit like your own Amazing Race!

Remember it is not just about fitness - it is more about good team work. Anyone can do it regardless of gender, age or size.

If you have done an adventure race before then this is the perfect opportunity to introduce your workmates. Events will last only 1 - 2 hours. During this time you will cover only short distances on kayak and on foot. Much of the time will be spent working out where to go so the pace is only as fast as you can think!

What you need

All you need is your workmates, running shoes and a sense of humour.

Kayaks, paddles and PFDs (Personal Floatation Device) are provided. The kayaks used are a very stable 3 person plastic sit-on-tops. No previous kayaking experience is required.

Our Partner

This event is not only a cost effective team building activity but it also raises money for Clean Up Australia. A portion of the entry fee goes to Clean Up Australia. We also would encourage your team to raise additional funds. To learn about Clean Up Australia’s environmental programs visit their website (www.cleanup.com.au) and click here if you would like to make a personal donation to support these activities (all donations are tax deductible).

The Details

  • 1-2 hours to complete the course - including games and obstacles
  • 3km of kayaking and 4-5km on foot - broken down into lots of separate sections to keep you thinking and on your toes
  • Teams of 3 persons. At least 2 people in the team must be from the same company
