RACE INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL RULES – THESE APPLY TO ALL LEGS

  1. All three team members must go to every Transition Area (TA).  You must insert your Sport Ident Stick into the relevant timing box at each TA to record your time.  You won’t get any leg times in the results if you forget to do this.

  2. Stay together (within 100m from each other at all times) AND everybody in the team must go all the way to every CP.  You will receive a 2-hour penalty if you are caught splitting up.  If one team member withdraws during the event or does not participate in all legs, the remaining team members may continue the event as normal but will appear in the results as an unranked team.

  3. You must wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) when kayaking or swimming unless otherwise instructed.  PFDs are provided.

  4. You must wear your helmet on all bike legs and at any other times as directed by the instructions below.

  5. Your team must carry the mandatory equipment specified for the event.  There will be checks on the course and you will receive a 15-minute penalty for any missing item of mandatory gear.

  6. Collect all checkpoints (CPs) in numerical order and in the specified leg unless otherwise instructed.  Missed CPs will incur a time penalty of approximately double the time it would take for a slow team to get the checkpoint.

  7. Use caution on roads, obey all road rules, ride in single file and keep left.  Roads are not closed to traffic during this event.  Be especially careful to give way to vehicles when crossing roads.

  8. Use caution on dirt tracks, footpaths and shared cycle/walk paths.  Watch out for and give way to other cyclists, trail bikers, walkers, playing children, horses and other users.  Keep left and ride in single file. Tracks, paths etc are not closed to other users during this event.

  9. Note any out of bounds areas (marked OOB).  You must stay out of any OOB areas. You will be disqualified if you go into any OOB areas or on OOB roads.

  10. Race vests must be worn at all times during the event.  Make sure your vests is pulled down fully and not inside out.  You must wear your race vest over the top of your PFD.  You will receive a 15-minute penalty if you do not do this.

  11. There is a 5.5 hour cut off at the finish, however you may continue to race and finish beyond this time.  You may however be directed to miss some sections of the course and you may miss the presentation and food suppliers at the finish.

  12. Sport Ident Sticks and race bibs must be handed in at the finish.  You will be billed $60 for each timing stick and $50 for each race bib not handed back.
